Where are we?

Parts of Dalian look so much like Mexico it's disconcerting. Tony keeps thanking everyone by saying "gracias." People here are really friendly - we've seen lots of smiles. The sense of personal space is different - yesterday lots of people apprached us to ask questions - are we related, is this your mom and dad, your hair is so blond, can we have our picutre taken with you. The group of ladies above approached us at a beautiful park by the sea and were so friendly. Karen has joined us and she's lovely - so smart and speaks beautiful English. Tony wandered into a music shop and got a lesson on an ancient Chinese erhu - ;-) and then he played a bit of guitar for them. A real cultural exhange - they really liked the blues. The park we visited has the largest square in the world-everything is on a grand scale. So, yesterday we walked around, soaked up the city and the smiles, finished the day with all four of us having an excellent massge (1 hour!) and met a lot of Justin's fellow teachers at a new "American" style bar. Well, breakfast is ready - we're a Texas I 55 again. The food has been really good everywhere.

Hi Kitty and Tony
I am so happy I found your blog. Your house is still standing and Joey is fine. He was over for supper and he came with us to Sally's last night. Cory is with him at your place right now.

The picture of Tony playing the ehru is amazing. I can just picture Tony rocking in a tiny chinese music shop!

Daryl was right when he said that people would want to touch your blond hair! Isn't it amazing when everyone is so friendly?

Please say hi to Justin for us and let him know that we cannot wait to see him. It is great that you were able to meet Karen.

We miss you. Take care and keep blogging.
With love, Karen

Finally had a chance to read your blog mom. It's so funny! Was reading it to Megan. We've been busy - Troy thought it would be good for me to see Mexico, which I also compared to the Dominican Republic - it's like the DR except with too many cars and interstates and roundabouts all over. Except the North West Coast of the Baja - is not pretty. We drove down and back - a 32 hour trip. I, of course didn't want to go for any number of reasons (stomach trouble, which I got, corrupt police, bed bugs, Tiajuana - but I'm glad we went - it was a real adventure - we drove!) We took the desert road back - that was beautiful!
love you guys

Hey Tony - what did you play for him on the guitar? A little tube steak boogie? Are they ready for it?

Cheers
Daryl

Hi Folks!
Great blog! Hey, Tony.
I'm not sure but I think that the 'erhu' might fit the criteria as a Bluegrass instrument!
"In constant sorrow...all my days!"
"Joy Geen"(That's my attempt at saying 'see you later' in Chinese.
